Launching this new show during the nation’s 250th anniversary feels especially tting. At a moment when the antiques eld is evolving in exciting ways, this anniversary o ers an opportunity to re ect on the role historic objects continue to play in understanding the past. e Pennsylvania Antiques Show brings together many of the country’s leading dealers along with collectors, scholars, and enthusiasts who share a passion for historic objects. We hope the show will become a favorite place not only to discover exceptional material, but also to connect with others who care deeply about American history and decorative arts. Over the course of this weekend, we invite you to visit Historic Trappe, located just a short drive from the Valley Forge Casino Resort. rough our historic buildings, exhibitions, and collections, Historic Trappe preserves and shares the history of southeastern Pennsylvania. Our new exhibition, Window to Revolution: Pennsylvania Germans and the War for Independence, examines the political and social world of the Revolutionary era and marks a major milestone in our anniversary programming. At the Muhlenberg House, the installation Refugees in the Parlor recreates the upheaval of the Revolutionary War in the Philadelphia area through the story of the Muhlenberg family. We are also proud to mark the public opening of the Speaker’s House, the home of Frederick Muhlenberg, rst Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, following more than twenty years of careful restoration. Proceeds from the Pennsylvania Antiques Show support the educational programs of Historic Trappe. In recent years, we have made signi cant investments in programs that introduce young people to history through objects and hands-on experiences. Each year, hundreds of children participate in school visits, living history programs, and archaeological excavations through our Kids Dig History program. e students who attend these programs today may very well become the next generation of curators, collectors, dealers, and scholars—and perhaps even the leaders of the nation’s 300th anniversary in 2076. e Pennsylvania Antiques Show is made possible by a wide range of corporate and individual sponsors.
